At the invitation of the World Trade Organization (WTO), the General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs participated in the second international webinar on "Trading Goods in the Digital Era", and shared its pioneering experience in digital transformation, especially the use of modern technology, the automation of internal processes, and the implementation of global international standards and leading best practices, in line with the evolving changes, needs and future visions of customs work.

At the invitation of the World Trade Organization (WTO), the General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs participated in the second international webinar on "Trading Goods in the Digital Era", and shared its pioneering experience in digital transformation, especially the use of modern technology, the automation of internal processes, and the implementation of global international standards and leading best practices, in line with the evolving changes, needs and future visions of customs work.

The webinar, which was moderated by Mrs. Suja Rishikesh Mavroidis, Director of the Market Access Division at the WTO, witnessed the participation of distinguished speakers from the customs administrations of Singapore, Georgia, the Netherlands, and Eswatini. They discussed customs prospects on the use of digital technologies to streamline import, export, and transit procedures.

Eng. Khaled Hassan AlMarzooqi, Director of the Strategic Development and Planning Department at Abu Dhabi Customs, affirmed during his presentation Abu Dhabi Customs' commitment to achieving the highest customs performance standards and implementing best practices using the latest advanced technology and artificial intelligence tools. He pointed out that such commitment is consistent with the strategy and vision of Abu Dhabi Customs to be a world-class customs authority driving change to enhance security, facilitate trade, and provide outstanding services.

AlMarzooqi also highlighted Abu Dhabi Customs' efforts to broaden the reach of the "Invisible Customs System" by launching several key initiatives. These include the advanced digital platform "TradeChain," capable of integrating with any blockchain platform globally specialized in trade, as well as the pre-arrival clearance system, Border Crossing Permits for trucks through land ports, and electronic integration between companies and Abu Dhabi Customs. A particular focus has been placed on integration with express courier companies, contributing to trade growth and providing an effortless customer journey.

It is noteworthy that the webinar attracted 466 participants from 120 countries involving both the government and private sectors within the international trade and customs community. It concluded with a call for cooperation, innovation, and collective efforts towards a more digitalized environment for global trade.
